Singapore Independent Media Fair
In keeping with Singapore Unbound’s promotion of freedom of expression, diversity, and democracy, we organized the first-ever Independent Media Fair in 2023 and brought together some of Singapore’s most exciting independent media outlets such as Jom, New Naratif, Kontinentalist, Ethos Books, Function 8, Workers Make Possible, and SG Climate Rally. Co-hosted by Kirsten Han, journalist and managing editor of Mekong Review, the fair consisted of speaker panels and an exhibition hall where media outlets were given individual booths to showcase their work and interact with the public. The half-day event was visited by over 400 participants. Encouraged by the success of our inaugural fair, we plan to make this an annual event with our partnering independent media outlets in Singapore. (photos courtesy of Nicholas Yeo)
